Research in Motion sells off NewBay services

Research in Motion (RIMM)  management just took another big step to get the company back on track. As reported by Yahoo news sources , RIMM sold it’s NewBay services subsidiary to Synchronoss Technologies for $55.5M claiming that it is not part of their core business.

RIMM’s management strategy goes back to what I suggested in one of my previous posts.  Although cloud services are essential  for any mobile services  provider, for RIMM it is just a distraction from its current problems.  By shedding some unnecessary weight, RIMM just increased its chance of survival.
